Action Root and leaves—
deobstruent, emmenagogue; used for uterine obstructions.
The leaves and stem bark gave alkaloids, L-stachydrine and L-3-hydroxy- stachydrine. Presence of quercetin, isoorientin, hydroxybenzoic acid, syringic acid, vanillic acid and 2-hydro- xy-4-methoxy benzoic acid has also been reported. The stembark contains an alkaloid cadabicine, and dry pods contain cadabalone
