Botanical name - Cuminum cyminum
Description - Slender annual herb; stem green, furrowed, usually with hollow internodes, glabrous; leaves green, alternate, petiolate, twice or thrice tripartite, ultimate segments filiform; umbels compound, many bracts and bracteoles, rigid, linear; flowers white, small, bisexual; fruits cremocarps; seeds many, albuminous.
Chemical Constituents- It contains essential oil with cumaldehyde along with quantities of terpenes and cuminic alcohol etc. Contains also 10% of fatty oil and 6.7% of pentosan.
Use - Fruits carminative, stomachic, astringent, useful in dyspepsia and diarrhoea. : Fruit: in diarrhoea, dysentery, inflammation of breasts and testicles;
