Description - Large shrubs with sub-rhomboid leaves. Flowers white, fragrant, in cymose terminal panicles. Drupe broadly obovoid, depressed
Chemical Constituents- Leaves contain a monoglucoside, beta- and gamma- sitosterols, ceryl alcohol, palmitic and cerotic acids. Stem contains Beta-sitosterol, beta-sitosterol-p-glucoside and ceryl alcohol. Flowers contain flavonoids pectolinarigenin, hispidulin, apigenin and luteolin
Use - aromatic and astringent, decoction used as a demulcent in gonorrhoea
