Botanical name - Garcinia indica

Description - Slender trees with spreading branches. Leaves obovate-oblong or elliptic-lanceolate. Flowers numerous. Berry globose

Chemical Constituents- Roots contain cambogin. Heart-wood contains euxanthone, biflavonoids - volkensiflavone and morelloflavone. Gum contains lipids. Leaves contain L-leucine. Fruit rind contains hydroxycitiric acid, cyanidin-3-glucoside and cyanidin-3-sambubioside, garcinol, isogarcinol and camboginol. Seed contains fatty acid.

Use - Fat from seed considered astringent, demulcent, emollient and soothing in cutaneous affections.
