Name - काकजङ्घा
Botanical name - Vitex peduncularis
Description - Medium-sized tree; bark grey, thick, exfoliating in irregular flakes. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets lanceolate. Flowers whitish- yellow, in axillary paniculate cymes. Drupe obovoid
Chemical Constituents- Leaves contain triterpenoids and flavonoids - vitexin, pachypodol, ursolic acid and 2-hydroxy-ursolic acid. Leaves and bark contain vitexin.
Use - Infusion of leaves and bark used in malarial and black water fevers. Leaves show antibacterial properties.
